I don't have an ulcer. Yay me.

I scared the hell out of the recovery room nurse, though, when she took the IV out of the back of my hand (joy, IV Valium... hurts like a m-f), and it really hurt, and I honest-to-god passed out. I mean, actually fainted. How embarrassing! At least I was sitting up in bed, not standing or in a chair or anything. Way weird. We were just chatting away and bam, I had time to say, "I'm feeling dizzy, I need to lie down..." and then out like a light before she could even get the bed flat again. I was only out for a few seconds, though; I came to as they were reattaching heart monitor pads and sticking my finger back in the oxygenation measurement doohickey. Naturally they'd already taken all that stuff off, with the silly IV the last to go.

We decided it was a combination of low blood sugar (no solid foods for like 18-20 hours by that point), having sat up too quickly, and being in pain.

I should get a Medic Alert bracelet that reads, "Don't even TRY to find a vein anywhere but the crook of my elbow." They hooked me back up because the doctor decided I should have fluids for some reason, and that needle didn't hurt at all coming out. Funfun.
