...Thanks for playing. Now piss off back to Cardiff, ya sorry wanker.
Meh:
Lack of Jack. What the hell? He was chained up in the basement for like 95 percent of the episode. Oh RTD, you only love Jack for his immortality and his
Titanic: Lame.
I liked:
The way Martha fought her war with words, not guns.
The Master's death scene--did you all notice that "How about that? I win" was an almost direct quote of Nine's comment from "Dalek" about being the last survivor of the Time War? But Tennant and Simm did an amazing job with this scene. Watching the Doctor fall apart hurt. I'm of two minds as to whether Martha and Jack should have gone to him, though. This was an intensely private grief. There is nothing you can say to a grief like that if you don't share it, and trying only diminishes it.
The way that Martha chose her own time and way to leave. If you watch that whole scene carefully, a lot gets said with an expression or look in the eye. "Is this going anywhere?" was laying it on a bit too thick, though.

Ditto. As you'll know if you've seen my LJ ;) Hated, hated, hated every second of all of that.

Yeah. I'll stop here otherwise I'll be copying everything you wrote. This is exactly how I feel as well. What a waste. What a let-down. I was so incredibly disappointed in this episode, especially after the build-up we got from Utopia onwards.
RTD, you have a long way to go before you will be forgiven this year. :(

Date: 2007-07-03 07:27 pm (UTC)The way you pointed that out, I almost loved the show again, especially paired with the Doctor's dismissive remark "As if I would ask her to kill."
Then I remembered that he forgives the Master for the sickening horror he's wreaked on humanity because he's lonely and because of his overweaning God complex and not out of genuine compassion or after necessary and genuine anger and I am buying you that damned mackrel.
