I'm wondering who among my LJ friends is considering leaving LJ for another blog site. The answers will have a strong bearing on whether I decide to move my blog. Though judging from the way Six Apart is running the place, none of us may have a choice at all in the end.

ETA: Yes, this question is coming up because of the way 6A is dealing with some fan journals. I don't have much sympathy for people knowingly posting things in violation of TOS, but it seems unfair to me that in borderline situations 6A isn't consistently at least giving people a chance to clean up their act. Yes, I know the TOS says they can terminate accounts at any time, without prior notice, for any violations of the TOS, but it also says (Section XIV.2) that it may call on users to retract or modify content found to be inappropriate (though it doesn't have to). So why isn't it doing that?

There have also been issues of communication with users, especially during and immediately after the infamous Strikethrough 2007, which had people of many stripes really worried that their journals were going to be suspended for stuff they honestly thought was okay. I mean, please; suspending a group dedicated to discussing Nabokov's Lolita? The whole thing left some people really unclear about what was Bad and what was Not Bad.

Although, I'm just saying: Depiction of minor in sexual situation: Bad. The people saying "But the TOS isn't clear about child porn!" make me *headdesk*. I mean, for god's sake.

Finally, one of the founding members of Six Apart just recently left. Reading the comments on the entry in which he explained the situation was... revealing. There's a lot of anger running around in the larger LJ community--I'm not touching the issue of whether it's justified or not--and 6A really needs to deal with that.

Also his departure makes the warning bells go off a little. There's this idiom about sinking ships that comes to mind.

I hope this clarifies my question. Sorry to confuse everybody!

Hm. I can't think of a reason I'd leave LJ at the moment.

Seems like the massacre from a few weeks ago was reversed ... and I can't think of other reasons.

I'm not ready to leave yet... but I'm really annoyed with the way they're handling the whole fandom thing.

I'm doing the dual-journal thing for now, at least - too many comms I like here on LJ.

I'll probably stay for quite a while as I have quite a lot of 'non-fen' on my flist and so if all the fannish people jump ship to somewhere like journalfen then they won't and I'll have to blog in two places and I'd keep forgetting one or the other and really I'd much rather stay here.

I'm running multiple journals now (thanks Semagic that's not more work than running one).
From feeling of community and the way the admins treat their customers (and me): my main journal is going to be AKK @ Insanejournal.

In addition I run story archives at AKK_ @ Greatestjournal and AKK @ Journalfen. But Journalfen doesn't have a community spirit in which I feel comfortable posting non-fic bits and, frankly, the overall atmosphere of Greatest raises my hackles. I probably take my posts down there and keep just the identity to watch communities.

I currently mirror Insane and IJ, but Insane feels better than LJ by far. I'm not going to delete my LJ journal right now, but after the last scraps, I noticed that I start being wary of normal posting on LJ and that's something I can do without.

What, there's something going on? People are moving? All news to me, but as I bought a permanent LJ a couple of months ago and all my fic comms are here I'm going nowhere.

Why? I'm not aware of any problems, personally.

A good group of friends here, many of them going back prior to the internet, even.

Got plenty of other venues already, as well.

Love, C.

You, Emma and a few others are the reason I still post to LJ. I keep another blog somewhere else and I was considering sending the link to a few people. I didn't want to force the people with whom I enjoy spending the most contact time with on here to go somewhere else and figured they wouldn't appreciate the sentiment. However, let me know what you decide to do. I am feeling a little like I need a clean up either way.

I'll be here. Where is this post explaining the recent departure?
