This is one reason I am probably never having kids. Resenting your children is poison, and I have no desire ever to poison a small developing being.

Downstairs crazy neighbor babysits her grandkids at times. They are shriekers - the kids - so, instead of just quietly telling them to knock it off, the adults tend to shout louder than the kids & such. Not to mention, the slamming of the front door so bloody hard that my bed shakes........

I can introduce myself off-list. Based solely on what I've read here you just don't strike me as the kind of person who'd be likely to abuse a child anyway. Kids like the one you described are scarred in ways that are virtually invisible until it's too late, and chances are that one or more of the parents were exposed to similar treatment too.

Well, thank you for the kindness. It's just that there's abuse and then there's not meaning to screw up but doing it anyway, and I don't want to do either one. I've got other reasons for not wanting kids, but that one's a start.
