An Ohio Teacher Stands Accused of Teaching Creationism and Burning Student
WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!
The principal allegedly told the guy that as long as he stopped BURNING KIDS, no note would be put into his personnel file. Parents have been complaining for eleven years about his not teaching evolution. Other teachers have been complaining. Kids were getting to high school and having to be retaught the stuff they were supposed to know already. And then the icing on the cake with this branding shit. He used an electrostatic device--well, here; this blog entry explains it, but it was a "BD-10A High Frequency Generator. It is used in science classrooms to ionize contained gases to make them an identifiable color (a really fun lab in normal situations). The tip of this device can put out up to 50,000 volts."

The school board of a small central Ohio community voted Friday to fire a teacher accused of preaching his Christian beliefs despite staff complaints and burning the image of a cross on students' arms, according to the Associated Press.
Mount Vernon Middle School veteran science teacher John Freshwater has denies [sic] any wrongdoing, his attorney told the Mount Vernon News.
Freshwater also displayed the Ten Commandments in his classroom and taught creationism, according to an independent investigation launched after the parents of the student who was allegedly branded filed a lawsuit

Mind you, the twin and I did have one of those type Science teachers in High School, and we had to warn the fellow geeks to play nice because he was the best friend of Mom's boss and shit rolls downhill.
