Tried out the mall hairstylist today. Not bad. Much much cheaper than my higher-end stylist in Burlingame. (Like, less than half the cost.) She's not an artist, and I think she's only six months out of stylist school or whatever they call it these days--but I have a very simple hairstyle. No big deal.

Went with my friend Elaine to the Mt. View Goodwill. Haul:

1 wool suit, $8.99
1 wool blazer, $6.99
1 pair corduroy pants, $5.99
1 silk blouse, $4.49
1 scoop-neck tank top, $0.99

Aaaaaaaand... take 50% off the whole batch! I so love sales. It's all stuff of at least decent quality. (I don't buy crap, especially secondhand as it usually doesn't wear well enough to survive a first owner.) I'm hoping I can use the blouse under my other suit that the worker's comp carrier paid for. (Must test color match in daylight.) I may have to end up sewing myself a blouse for interviews. I'm not seeing anything in the stores that works for me.

Just as cool: at a thrift shop in Redwood City I paid $4 and change for a spiffy red 3/4-length winter coat with the Emporium SF label on its inner lapel. US ladies' garment workers' union tag sewn into the lining. I wonder when it was made? And what it's made from? It's not wool; it's some kind of fleece that I think is a synthetic. Have to find out before I trust it to a dry cleaner.

Ahhh, thrift stores. Those and church bag-sales are my saving graces in tems of clothes.

But then again, I'm a bum of a poor college student. Hehe.
