My god. I just saw the trailer for The Return of the King. If the film comes anywhere near living up to the promise I just saw... Beautiful. Tears were rolling down my face by the end.
But this bit is much more important in the grand scheme of my life (if my life can be said to have such a thing): I'm teaching. Really teaching a class on grammar for advanced students of ESL. And in January, if all goes well, I'll start teaching a grammar refresher course for native speakers, and a literature class to be titled "Immigrant Voices." I just came home about an hour and a half ago from choosing most of my texts.
I wish the Commission on Teacher Credentialing would get on with processing my application. It would be nice to get the piece of paper that will let me dive in and teach basic skills to adults who have decided to earn their high school diplomas, or ESL to people who need to learn English to get jobs and survive. The courses I've already committed to teaching are fee-based and legally fall under the same category as yoga, jewelry-making, and conversational Esperanto classes.
