NYC Bridezilla Elana Glatt!

This woman, her new husband, and her mother-in-law are suing her wedding florist for $400K. Why? Because... the hydrangeas were the wrong color. Well, she says they were wilted, too. And in dirty vases, some of them without water.

She's really reaching here, isn't she? Jebus. If she honestly feels ripped off, why can't she just demand a refund like a normal pers--oh. She's a lawyer.

NEVER MIND.

Stupid bint. IF they were really the wrong color (I dunno, they don't look pink to me) then she might reasonably demand a refund - but over 10x the amount she paid for the flowers? More, probably, than she paid for the wedding itself? Bridezilla is right. Hope a judge slaps her down hard.

I bet $400K isn;t so off the mark on the cost of the whole wedding... which is pretty damned insane too.

Maybe so, but expecting the florist to pay for the entire wedding because she was dissatisfied with his service is completely outrageous and unacceptable. I'd be much more sympathetic if she'd just demanded a full or partial refund and refrained from initiating a lawsuit until after arbitration had failed.

After reading the excerpts from the lawsuit, I feel that she just comes off as really unpleasant and obsessed with "staging" the perfect wedding as though it were some kind of Las Vegas spectacle with herself in the starring role. From the article I linked to above:

Elana and David Glatt have filed a $400,000 suit against an Upper East Side florist, charging it caused them "extreme disappointment, distress and embarrassment" on what was supposed to be the greatest day of their lives by providing the wrong-colored hydrangeas for their Aug. 11 nuptials.

"Extreme distress and embarrassment" over flowers when it's the day they're committing to each other for life? And if it's the greatest day of their lives, doesn't that mean that it's all downhill from here?

And then, in a piece from the NYT:

The use of predominantly pastel centerpieces had a significant impact on the look of the room and was entirely inconsistent with the vision the plaintiffs had bargained for."

I mean, WTF. "Vision"? You're staging a play here, or maybe shooting a movie?

Bridezilla. I'm just sayin'.

My thought is a) she's a lawyer and b) NYC....

So, she's just proving the stereotype that lawyers are greedy pigs and that NYC natives live to be complete jerks. :-p

Granted, I'm not married, not looking to get married anytime soon, so I won't be spending an outrageous amt on flowers, but still...

She needs to be hit upside the head with a clue hammer. I hope the judge throws her case out, because this just seems overkill.

I forgot to say: it totally is insane. When H and I got married, I was really conscious of the fact that my parents were paying for it and that they're not rich. I was really proud of being able to arrange everything without spending a mint.

...What's wrong with these rich people, anyway? Why spend all that money on flowers when they could be using it to pay off my credit cards? Geez!
