So the fourth Twilight book came out, amidst much fanfare. And within one day, someone started Don't Burn It, Return It. Because... it apparently blew just that hard.

I am amused. It's not nice, but I don't care. It's actually rather loltastic. Not working at a bookstore or a library, unlike others I could name (HI FLIST), I am largely insulated from the frothing sparkly maniacs who make up the majority of the Twilight fan community, but thanks to cleolinda, I'm rather well informed on the whole thing, and well--

Yeah. You have to have a special kind of talent to write three books that the fans can't get enough of and then to write a fourth that has them so pissed off that they return the book. Some of them are even burning it, apparently.

I actually started being annoyed with the plotline during book three, but bought book four just to see. Kinda like how I read Queen of the Damned just because I wanted to see Rice's take on the beginning of vampires.

Have you read it yet? cleolinda did a massive three-part recap of the whole. bloody. thing, and apparently that book is pure unadulterated Mary Sue crackfic. (Bloody's quite accurate, actually.)

Nope.
Wasn't able to get passed the second chapter. I started getting annoyed again and had to put it down. It was so good in the first novel; it makes me sad to have the current installment annoying so soon into the last segment. 'Course, I'm looking at Breaking Dawn from the female vampire aspect. It's early, I know, but it is motivating enough.

It's the fourth book in a perfectly dreadful (by the sound of it) young adult vampire series full of Teh Drama and Teen Angst and Iwwevocable Wuv—which, of course, we all know eighteen-year-olds are perfectly capable of judging that their Twoo Wuv is irrecovable and what do you mean I'm going to get old, OMG I wanna be a vampire nooooooow. It is ridiculously popular among teenaged girls. The author is so full of herself and all "I'm the next JK Rowling, bitches" and she has effectively pwned herself liek whoa by writing this book that has inspired quite the amazing fan turnaround. Plenty of people who thought the first three books were made of awesome and that Stephenie Meyer shits solid gold are now frothing mad because the book is just. that. bad.
