Dear Mr. President:

I have just finished reading a newspaper article about the UN study on the world's ecosystems. To say that these results are distressing is understating the matter. We all depend, of course, on healthy ecosystems, and it's a shock to hear that we as a species have depleted so many of them so severely.

I am writing to respectfully urge you to heed the study's warnings. Humankind as a whole and the United States as a nation must protect forests and coasts, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and promote green technologies. We must all work together if we are to save what resources we have left.
